It’s International Women’s Day 2018 and we are celebrating Women + Women of Fair Trade. We are always grateful and proud to honor our commander in chief, Amber Ashley!

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights," says world-renowned feminist, journalist and social and political activist Gloria Steinem. Thus, International Women's Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action.

The Beginning

Amber co-founded Inesscents back in 2000. From the start, Inesscents was driven by women and committed to supporting Fair Trade practices around the globe. Amber knew she wanted work with healing botanicals, but not at the expense of the livelihood of our suppliers. It was of vital importance to have a positive impact on our global community and environment.

Influenced by her travels to India and Africa, along with growing up in between the United States and Jamaica, it was essential for Amber to support a strong and vibrant network of global organic producers to fuel Inesscents products.

Inesscents was one of the country’s first certified Fair Trade body care companies ignited by the passion of a woman’s dream for equality on many planes. Along with being Fair Trade Certified, Inesscents is also certified by USDA Organic, iTal, B-Corp and Oregon Tilth. Each of these overseeing bodies work to instill triple bottom line principals and hold the company accountable as a leader in the industry.

What the Future Holds

Amber continues to strive in her work of securing high quality botanicals and raw materials for every product within the Inesscents line. Her choices are made with great discernment and have grown Inesscents into a nationally recognized brand. Each ingredient is carefully selected based on the country of origin, the specific growing region, sourcing from like-minded suppliers who practice sustainability, the working conditions and the quality of the material. Amber knows that the details matter when it comes to the potency and effectiveness of everything she puts her energy into. As Inesscents grows, the mission remains the same.
